Carver Teen Garden

Mary, Mary quite contrary,

How does your garden grow?

“With baskets and seeds, and not any weeds,

And seed bombs–FLOWER IN THE HOLE!”

But throwing herbal seed bombs isn’t the only gardening the Carver teens have done.

Although the first bomb has successfully sprouted, we’re not sure what it is. Basil?

What started as a few bean seeds in an old, damaged Pokemon volume:

Gotta catch ’em all.

Has been expanded to include six different herb plants, several cucumbers, the carrots we’d about given up on and even more beans:

Field of Beans.
GET IT?

The garden expansion, seen here in progress,

We actually don’t have any spades or anything. We shovel by hand.

gave some crowded seedlings new digs (RIMSHOT) and space to grow.  By experimenting with all different sorts of potential containers, we hope to expand planting again soon and…branch out (okay, so that’s a tree joke, but it’s in the same vein).

Cucumbers at one week in the ground and already elbowing for space. If they had elbows.

Cucumbers…or laundry?
YOU DECIDE.

HOLY CARP A CARROT

So wish us luck as we try to nurture our herbs and vegetables through the vicious summer heat, and also find a better way to share snacks with the gardeners besides attempting to pour popcorn into their dirt-encrusted hands.

This actually went much better than the other approach someone of trying to toss popcorn into their mouths.

That’s so cool! Please create an update blog to show their progress. I hope they all grow. 🙂
