Teen review: “Dead Is The New Black” by Marlene Perez

If you are into mysteries, supernatural characters, and the occasional spooky book, then you will have to try “Dead Is The New Black” by Marlene Perez, especially since Halloween is coming up. Daisy Giordano is an ordinary, small town teenage girl who happens to have a family full of psychics. Her mother uses her gifts to help investigate cases along with the police, but after Daisy starts to notice some weird things happening, she decides to get involved. Unlike most small towns, Nightshade if filled with secrets and more than a few creatures that should only exist in books. This story keeps you on your toes until the end, switching the blame between Daisy’s ex-best friend, Samantha, who came back to school with a new look, to the peppy cheerleading coach.
