24th Annual Night of a Thousand Stars

Each year an award ceremony for volunteers in San Antonio, takes place, and I was nominated this year for my involvement and leadership in the Landa Library Tutoring Program.  The event took place at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center on June 20, 2013 and was truly beautiful, spectacular, and inspiring.  I was able to meet many who have contributed greatly to the community, whose actions are not limited to fostering children, assisting in hospitals, and providing food and necessities for thousands.  I was inspired by the atmosphere of devoted citizens who are passionate about helping and supporting the community.  It was a huge honor to be nominated, and I felt blessed, surprised, and ecstatic all at once when I won the Mayor’s Youth Award (Individual) 2013.  I was really nervous when I was called backstage, and I tried to stop my knees from locking and shaking.  There were so many supportive people, and this experience, this glorious opportunity gave me hope and determination.  I will continue to devote myself to the Landa Library Tutoring Program, and I’m endlessly grateful for my family, friends, Ms. Bea, and fellow tutors, all who offer infinite support, and helped me get to where I am now.
