Teen Review : “Cupcake Queen” by Heather Helper

After moving back to her mom’s small town, Penny’s life changes for better or for worse. She and her mother are now living with Penny’s grandmother. On top of that, Penny’s mom has started a small business making and selling cupcakes. Not only does Penny have to deal with all of that, she has made enemies, as well. Charity and her friends prank Penny nearly every day, but there is a bright side to all of it: meeting Tally, who, like Penny, was forced to move to Hog’s Hollow. Tally is a competitive Rock Paper Scissors player and helps out at the animal shelter. Because of Tally, making yummy cupcakes, and Marcus, a boy whose dog she has befriended, could Penny’s life not be so bad after all? I liked this story because it had a sweet ending. Actually, the whole book was just yummy!
