Teen Review: “The 5th Wave” by Rick Yancey

Cassie has managed to survive through all four waves of the alien invasion. She has had to watch both of her parents die. Her mother died in the third invasion and her father in the fourth. She has only the hope that her brother is still alive. Cassie can trust no one, since the aliens look just like us, but when she is shot in the leg, her savior, Evan Walker, may be her only hope of reuniting with her baby brother. The only problem is if she can trust him. With the threat of a fifth wave looming over everyone’s head, you are sucked in waiting for what will happen next. Who is an alien? What do they want? And who will survive? After all, the first four waves narrowed out the genetically weak. Only the strong are left. They should ultimately win. Right?
