Teen Review: “Beauty Queens” by Libba Bray

A plane full of beauty queen contestants and cameramen crashes on a deserted island, leaving only 13 of the contestants alive. They have little food, water, or shelter, and  they must survive until they are rescued. The contestants of the Miss Team Dream pageant must put their heads together and use what skills they have to stay alive. This hilarious book, told from the perspective of the corporation that hosts the Miss Teen Dream, makes you question what true beauty is. Are the girls more than just beauty queens and have their experience with pageants helped toughen them up to face the harshness of reality? You are on a bumpy ride, filled with conspiracies, sinister plots, sisterhood, glam, and attractive pirates. Hope you don’t break a nail!
