Teen Review: “Halo” by Alexandra Adornetto

To hold back the forces of evil, Gabriel, Ivy, and Bethany are sent to Venus Cove. They just so happen to be angels. This sleepy little town the three have been dispatched has experienced some recent tragedies, and it is up do their divine goodness to help heal it. They are supposed to be kind and impartial, but Bethany, the most humanlike of the three, can’t help but form personal bonds with her fellow classmates. First, she befriends Molly, which Gabriel and Ivy disapprove of, and then tops it off by falling in love with the mortal Xavier Woods. A lot of the tragedies in their town were personally connected to Xavier, so Beth helps bring him back emotionally. Eventually things smooth over and the angels can start to see rather large improvements in the town when evil decides to screw everything up again. Are the three powerful enough to stop it, and will Bethany’s relationship be a distraction?
