Teen Review: “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern

What started as a challenge of skill between two people, grew to involve an entire circus. Celia and Marco were pitted against each other from a young age, but it was not until they became dangerously entwined in Le Cirque des RĂªves did the real competition begin. To the average person, the circus is simply something of wonder that shows up without warning in a random city and is only open from sunset to sunrise. The guests, though they find the circus magical, only believe that everything is made of clever tricks. It is far from that. For the most part, the circus relies on Celia and Marco to hold it all together. They may be the cause of the sustained wonder and magic of the circus, but with their competition, they also might be the downfall. With the lives of all of the performers bound to the circus, can the pair finish their game without putting an end to everything else? This book was beautifully written. It makes you feel like you are right there experiencing it all.
