Teen Review: “City of Heavenly Fire” by Cassandra Clare

In the sixth and final book in “The Mortal Instruments” series, the Shadowhunters and Downworlders face their enormously clever enemy, Sebastian Morgenstern. With his Endarkened Shadowhunters, Sebastian is attacking institutes all over the world. The clave has no idea how bad the situation is, despite Jace and Clary’s warnings. The Shadowhunters retreat into hiding, leaving the world unprotected from demons. At a time like this, it is essential that the Shadowhunters remain allies with the Vampires, Werewolves, Warlocks, and Fairies. Sebastian clearly sees this, and he uses it as his main strategy. So when he kidnaps the five representatives of Downworlders and Shadowhunters, Clary, Jace, Alec, Isabelle, and Simon must travel into a demon dimension to rescue them and save the alliances. Will the Shadowhunters be wiped from the world? If they are gone, who is to stop Sebastian from going after another species? This final book was a nice ending to the series. Many ends were tied up.
