Landa Teens: We (heart) February

Posted in Library Programs, San Antonio Public Library with tags , , on March 10, 2017 by landalibraryteens

Konnichi wa! Landa Teens loved February and we expressed it through delicious, fantastic, galactic snacking. Celebrating bdays with Galaxy Donuts! Learning a few Japanese phrases and facts while making Candy Sushi! Getting a little bit of Vitamin C  during Cooking Club with some Fruit Kabobs! Watching a classic movie with Popcorn! Obviously we were very hungry this month and feeling quite inventive.  And what’s next? Tech Week! Woot.

Encino Teens February Fun!

Posted in anime, Games & Gaming, Library Programs, San Antonio Public Library, Uncategorized with tags on March 2, 2017 by encinolibraryteens

Encino Teens had a really fun February that involved using our WiiU for all types of gaming, making pizza cake pops, drawing tons of cool anime and manga-inspired works, and constructing duck tape roses for our valentines. We munched our way through way too much heart-shaped candy, played a laugh-out-loud game of Superfight, and felt inner peace after doing some zentangle drawing. Our Anime Club finished the first season of Nanbaka (which we all highly recommend!), with some other anime episodes peppered in.  Join us for another fun-filled month in March featuring a special Teen Tech Week edition teen time and more Anime Club every Monday! *By Julia, your Encino Teen Librarian*

Landa Teens : bye-bye ’16

Landa Teens rocked out the last month of the year with Teen Nights  inspired by the Mayor’s Book Club – we took way too many pics and listened to records brought from home (yep, actual LP records. Queen Forevah!),  Playdough part 2 – we helped make playdough for Landa’s Winterfest and  of course had a batch for ourselves, crafted for Dr. Wholiday with Cookies & Youtube Who-a-thons, Made displays in the Teen Area, and of course Cooking Club – pizza from scratch.  Whoa, ya’ll. Whoa. And so much more to come in 2017  🙂 .

Encino Teen Time

Welcome to Teen Time at Encino with your new host, Julia! I am so excited to be here with the coolest teens ever! We began the night with the goal of decorating the teen room for the holidays and celebrating the Mayor’s Book Club Fall book selection. Teens helped cut snowflakes made from old comic books and manga, munched on some candy, and we got to use our new Fugifilm Instax to take pictures. We also listened to some Christmas music and watched some Youtube videos. With the pictures on the wall and the snowflakes on the window the teen room is looking mighty cheery!

What a month!  We welcomed back a long time Teen Volunteer who just returned from studying abroad in Japan (!), showed off our Xbox skills, honed our poetry wordsmithery  for the annual Pegasus Poetry Competition – check out our blackout poetry board 🙂 –  and leveled up our baking know-how (now with more vegan options!) with the most delicious of all sweets treats – the mighty cake pop

October had Landa Teens Chalking It Out, Painting It Up, and Cooking For All. We are learning new ways to Create – the best are those we share with others, and also ones which include snacking. Lots of snacking.
