Teen Review: “The House of Hades” by Rick Riordan

Percy and Annabeth, having fallen into Tartarus at the end of “The Mark of Athena,” must journey to the Doors of Death to seal them from the inside while the rest of their team seals them from the outside. They must do this in order to prevent even more of the army of Gaea, the evil Earth goddess, from entering the mortal world and destroying everything. At the same time, the Greek and Roman camps are preparing for war against each other, even though what they need to do is bond together and fight their common enemy. Their fighting is giving the gods split personalities, incapacitating them and putting everyone in even worse of a chance of winning the inevitable war. Can Percy and his team of seven succeed at this nearly impossible task? I enjoyed this fourth book more than the third one. I didn’t feel like Percy, Annabeth, Hazel, Frank, Leo, Piper, Jason and Nico were a united team until this book.
