String Art and LED lights at Landa Library

It was just another Wednesday night at Landa Library. The weekly teen club came together over Spring Break and spent time tackling the planned activity and making up our own. As we blasted 90’s music the whole time, some of us drew out a shape to create an outline for our string art.

The plan was to draw you shape, cut it out, and then use pins to pin it to the cork board. After that, we chose different colored string and looped it around the pin and across our shape. We would use spray on glue to hold the string, and we had these really cool “homemade” lights that you lit up with a battery and a magnet to include in our string art.

As we were doing this, a game started with the other teens to see how far they could keep a paper ball in the air; it was like hacky-sack but with our hands. Myself and the others working on the string art got lured into the game and soon we were trying to keep the ball in the air past 12 hits. Unfortunately, the enchanting sounds of Blondie, Green Day, etc. distracted me from the game. Altogether, it was another fun night at Landa Library where we enjoyed Spring Break with our friends with some string art, LED lights, and hand hacky-sack!
